How much gold is there in Bulgaria?

Bulgaria
ranks 53rd out of 132 countries in terms of its gold reserves.
This
is shown by the statistics of the World Gold Council.
Leaders
in gold reserves in the Balkans are the three largest economies in the region.
Turkey owns 561 tons of gold, Greece 113 tons and Romania 103 tons
respectively.
After
the BNB acquired another 11,113 troy ounces of gold at the beginning of last
year, our country's gold reserves currently amount to 40.8 kg or 1.3 million
ounces of the precious metal.
Serbia,
with 35 tonnes of gold, is the country with the largest gold reserves in the
Western Balkans.
According
to official figures, Serbia has 35 tonnes of gold, about 96 per cent of which
is stored in the form of gold bars and the remaining four per cent in the form
of coins.
Immediately
after Serbia is Macedonia with gold reserves of 6.89 tons. Slovenia owns 3.17 tonnes,
Bosnia and Herzegovina 2.98 tonnes and Montenegro 1,090 kg, inherited from the
former SFRY.
